My Journey with Parasites and Candida: What I Learned Along the Way

Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room: yes, we’re going to talk about parasites, worms, candida, and all the gross stuff most people pretend doesn’t exist. Yes, I’ve stared at way too many photos of my own poop. Yes, the toilet became my bestie. And yes, I may have had mini monsters living rent-free inside me while I carried on like a mostly-functional adult. But here’s the thing: you’re not alone, and sometimes the only way to survive this journey is to laugh at it. So grab a cup of tea, settle in, and let’s get real gross, honest, and maybe a little funny about what living with parasites and candida actually feels like.


How It Started


My journey kicked off in 2019 on a trip to Costa Rica. Looking back, I probably already had parasites hanging out in my system. The signs were there: low energy, brain fog, stomach issues, and some “mystery” weight loss. At the time, I blamed stress and burnout. Classic me.

I thought a long trip would reset my life. I even flirted with the idea of making Costa Rica my permanent home. Spoiler alert: that didn’t happen.

Symptoms Escalated Quickly


Within six weeks, my body said, “Nope.” I was:

  • Exhausted all the time (like, nap-in-the-middle-of-a-tourist-market tired)

  • Experiencing joint pain so severe I could barely grip my phone or even a glass of water

  • Bloated and constantly battling digestive chaos

  • Sleeping poorly, with restless nights that made insomnia look like a luxury spa treatment

  • So fatigued that even a short hike left me questioning all my life choices


I cut my trip short after 2.5 months because I started thinking, “What if I need, you know, actual medical help?”

The Realization


I assumed fresh juices, rest, and supplements would magically fix me. They didn’t. My body felt like a 90-year-old’s, my brain fog was so bad I had to write everything down or set alarms just to function, and the bathroom? Let’s just say it became way too familiar.


Finding a Solution


A close friend suggested a parasite cleanse. I was skeptical. Like, “I am NOT one of those people!” skeptical. But it was the turning point. The cleanses confirmed I was basically hosting a parasite party. And that began a long, challenging journey to detox, heal, and rebuild my health.


What I Learned About Parasites and Candida


Once you contract one type of parasite, your immune system is basically waving a welcome flag for the rest. Inflammation and cravings also make it a paradise for candida overgrowth, and any dormant immune issues can flare up. Over time, I passed:

  • Hookworm

  • Roundworm

  • Flukes

  • Threadworm

  • Tapeworm

  • And some surprise guests I didn’t even know existed


The Challenges


I battled parasites for two years, but my body was still screaming for help. Eventually, I needed emergency surgery to remove the right side of my large intestine and my appendix -likely due to hookworm damage. Yep, fun times.


Recovery and Education


After surgery, things finally started to improve. With a damaged intestine out of the picture and armed with everything I’d learned, I rebuilt my body.

Since then, I’ve thrown myself into studying parasites, candida, and detox protocols. I’ve guided countless people (and even pets) through cleansing journeys, helping them reclaim energy, digestion, and overall health.
